Applications for GFOA's Standing Committees Being Accepted Until September 10The deadline for GFOA members to apply to one of the GFOA's Standing Committees has been extended to Friday, September 10. Serving on a standing committee is an excellent opportunity for GFOA members to contribute their experience and knowledge to the entire membership. GFOA's seven standing committees meet twice each year and develop best practices, advisories and policy statements for the approval of our Executive Board and membership.

2011 GFOA Awards for Excellence in Government Finance Applications AvailableThe Awards for Excellence in Government Finance are the GFOA’s most prestigious awards. Each year, the GFOA recognizes the contributions of state and local governments to the practice of government finance that exemplify outstanding financial management. The awards stress practical, documented innovations that offer leadership to the profession and promote improved public finance because of their ability to be duplicated in other jurisdictions.

Long-Term Financial Planning Blog | Financial Planning and Elected Officials The Rockefeller Institute of Government recently released a new report on state revenues. According to the Institute, state tax revenues across the country increased, with April-June of this year bringing a second consecutive quarter of growth. Gains in collections were widespread during the second quarter, with 30 states showing increases in revenues compared to a year earlier, based on preliminary data the Rockefeller Institute obtained from state officials.
